Instructions for off-campus database access

There are three ways to validate yourself as a Quinnipiac user.

The first, and preferred way is to invoke the URL https://citrix.quinnipiac.edu , log in using your email login and password, and open the Library Applications folder. You will see an icon labelled ABL Databases. Once you are in that session, all of the library's databases will be available.

If you are using a Mac, you must go through the following additional steps the first time you use Citrix:
Download a Citrix client for Mac OS X - going to http://www.citrix.com/site/SS/downloads/details.asp?dID=2755&downloadID=3250
Please download the appropriate client (Intel or PowerPC).
Once you install, please visit: https://citrix.quinnipiac.edu
Before logging in, click 'Advanced Options".
Make sure Native Client is selected under 'Remote Client Type'.

The second method for most users is to go to https://quvpn.quinnipiac.edu/webvpn.html , and validate yourself by typing in the login and password that you would use to access your Quinnipiac email. Once you are validated, you will be taken to a screen that links you to the library's databases, and all of them will be accessible throughout your session. Important note: Once you are logged in, keep that session open until you are ready to stop working on library databases. If you just close the session, the system will lock you out for at least 30 minutes.

The third way is to set up your computer to dial directly to Quinnipiac. This is an option for people who live close to the campus. Once it is set up, it requires the Windows login and password that you use for your email account. If you want to use this, but do not know your password, you must visit the help desk in Tator Hall to learn it. A dial-up network must be installed on your machine, and it will need a connection to a phone line. To do this, you must go to Control Panel and choose Create a Network Connection. Choose set up a manual connection to the Internet. It will ask for your access number, which is 203-927-4820. (Long distance charges may apply if you are out of the free calling area.). If you input your user name and password, this will automatically work every time you dial in.

Further questions about this can be answered by the Automation Librarian, Terry Ballard, at (203)582-8945.
